About Us

Labcorp pathology is a leading provider of anatomic pathology with subspecialty expertise in dermatopathology, gastrointestinal pathology, hematopathology, and uropathology. Formerly Dianon Pathology, Labcorp pathology has 30 years of experience providing specialized anatomic pathology services to physician practices and hospitals.

    History

1983: Labcorp pathology—then known as Dianon Pathology—began in Stamford, Conn, to combine the pathology expertise of academic-based centers with the personal service of a local pathologist. With full-color graphical reports and personalized information for physicians, patients, and health plans, Dianon quickly became one of the largest and most respected pathology providers in the industry.

2000 and 2001: Dianon was named to Forbes’ “Best 200 Small Companies.” Because of the volume and specialization, Dianon offered technologies that often were unavailable at local hospitals or laboratories.

2003: Laboratory Corporation of America® Holdings (Labcorp) acquired Dianon. For the past decade, the enhanced pathology services of Dianon—combined with Labcorp’s clinical test menu—have provided clients with a single-source solution for specialized laboratory testing.

2021: The Dianon name changed officially to Labcorp pathology.

    Mission

Providing exceptional quality in pathology results has always been at the core of Labcorp pathology’s mission. Our signature service—the 4 Steps to Quality—provides reassurance to physicians and their patients. In addition to subspecialty-trained pathologists, Labcorp pathology’s daily review of malignant and suspicious cases and random review of benign cases provides a built-in second opinion. Special stains provide further diagnostic clarity, and any cases that remain in question are referred to academic-based experts for diagnostic confirmation.

Labcorp pathology remains focused on the client and patient to deliver industry-leading results and connectivity solutions. Our team is distinguished for our capabilities in specific organ systems and the clinical disciplines of uropathology, dermatopathology, and gastrointestinal pathology. Clinicians can act in confidence on the results they receive from Labcorp pathology.
